Who We Are

The Indian Wind Energy Association (InWEA) is a not-for-profit organisation that was set up in 2002 to work as an independent body representing the interests of developers, manufacturers of wind turbines, components, systems etc., and investors in the Indian wind energy sector. The Association was formed by a group of experienced companies and individuals in the Indian wind energy sector. The Association is registered under the Societies Regulation Act XXI of 1860 with the Government of India.

InWEA is an apex industry-led institution serving in the larger interest of promoting and safeguarding the wind energy sector in India. Being an active participant at the regulatory and policy level, it has been instrumental in market development activities.

Having a base of over 350 members all over India, InWEA is also a member of several international and national industry bodies such as the World Wind Energy Association, the European Wind Energy Association, CII, FICCI and ASSOCHAM among others.

InWEA is primarily engaged in the sphere of policy advocacy. The Association’s efforts are specifically designed to guide the Indian wind industry as well as foreign firms in undertaking the right projects to aid wind power development. It also works in close collaboration with financial institutions, developers and policy makers to eliminate barriers in the development and growth of the wind energy sector. The association also participates actively in representing the investors in the various regulatory commissions.

The Association works to spread awareness about the benefits of wind energy as well as to enable the industry to optimally utilise wind energy resources. In the context of the increasing concern on “climate change”, the Association contributes effectively in the country’s quest for affordable, clean energy as well as energy security. The underlying motto here is to ensure a sustainable path for the country’s economic and social development.
